The Curse

Some time ago, deep in the heart of the Green Mountains, two families got together and thus began the curse. It started innocently enough, but the root of this curse runs deep. For it involves loyalty, pride, heritage, and above all, your birthplace. This curse of which I speak can only occur between two kinds of people…New Yorkers and New Englanders.

At the time this curse began, another curse was in its waning moments. After 100 plus years of torment, the New Englanders were on the verge of a significant breakthrough. Could it be, after over a century of continued failures that this curse would be lifted?

It was. The curse was broken in a dramatic fashion and the tide and fortunes of all New Englanders was changed….for the moment.

Before the lifting of that curse, the two aforementioned families got together one evening to witness some of this rivalry. Both were expecting success, but at the end of the evening the New England family left, crushed by defeat. That is when the curse was born. Now this curse is much smaller in magnitude then the other, but never despise small beginnings. So it is, that whenever these two families come together on events such as these, New England receives a blow. Just as they did the other night.

Now, since the end of the original curse, New Englanders are now enjoying a season of success, at least in part. There was a GIANT upset of that turning tide, which occurred just a few short months ago that very well could be the beginning of the end for the wary New Englanders. Will this stemming of the new tide, be the small ripple that gains momentum and strength, crashing in on the more recent successes of these poor New Englanders, providing the foundation of a new curse, to last another 100 years? Will New York dominance once again rule the land and we can once again enjoy life as it should be? Only time will tell.


And that is the story of the O’Connell curse.
